Research interest

I studied environmental modeling at the University of Oldenburg, where I focused on methods in non-linear dynamics, network science and machine learning. Through a research internship in a social listening lab in Chile I got excited about the intersection of social science and complexity science, especially in the context of social media, to better understand opinion formation processes, polarization or the emergence of trends. I followed this interest in my Master's Thesis where I worked on predicting tipping points of an opinion dynamical network model. Currently, I am working on the development of new approaches to understand epidemiological dynamics. Since the spreading of viruses strongly depends on the decisions that individuals make every day that shape their behavior and social interactions, I would be happy to merge this work in the future with insights from opinion dynamics or the impact of information dissemination in social media.
